Social Development and Life Skills for Young Women

In today’s world young women are finding more connection with what is going on around them rather than what is going on within them. Our environment has created pressures for young women to "fit in" and as a result has caused uncertainty about how they can achieve success in life. These environmental influences can affect the self worth of young women and create the potential for self harm through substance misuse and abuse, unhealthy relationships, and poor self care in general.

As an avenue to create new opportunities for young women, I am pleased to introduce the Passion Foundation. With the recent attainment of its status as an incorporated society the Passion Foundation’s mission is to provide innovative youth programs to help young women stay on track. Our goal is to have programming commence in early 2008. The foundation benefits from its national Board of Directors from Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto who are dedicated to providing quality services for young women and their families.

By providing the opportunity for self exploration and positive role modeling the foundation aims to decrease self harm and help young women to connect with a purpose in life while being part of a community of like minded peers.

In June 2008 the Passion Foundation will sign an agency agreement with the Network of Inner City Community Services in Vancouver, BC. The agreement will allow the Passion Foundation and NICCS to work together to provide quality programming for young women in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. Our hope is to create a unique platform for young women to learn new skills and empower their future.
